I think having more TOG designations is a good idea. It'd certainaly help to quicken the 'transitions'. What about different coloured stars as well? How about ignoring the stars or number of posts, and just enjoy the posting from some witty folk (they are there...somewhere...I'm sure I read one once...) I agree with Leggsy on this one. Why does the number (or even colour) of the stars matter? Some of the most mind-numbingly tedious posts are made by those with large numbers of stars.

I am glad you agree, young Micoat. You are a man of considerable taste and discrimination. I learnt all I know from the best on the boards. I would like to say who they're too modest to accept the credit.

now that's clever that is Lord L - what I need to know now is how you do the wee thingy where your reply repeats the post you are answering......

Click on the 'Quote' button (top right of the post) and it will appear. Make sure you enter your post at THE END of the previous one (after where it says [/quote] or you will end up with your post in the middle of someone else's.)

well sort of - although I did sort of manage to cut you in two Well, you're sort of getting the hang of it. (And don't tell anyone; if it got out that I had helped someone it would ruin the image.)

I'm a newbie TOG to these boards, but have one o=r two queries.
Is it me, or does anyone else find that the Icons such as "reply", "print", "search", and so on are so indistinct. I know you can emlarge the print, but it still doesn't make any difference.
Why can't web site designers take into account the differences in people's eyesight; we're not all blessed with 20/20 vision.
One other point. I notice that other contributors use abbreviations which the long term users are aware of, but us new guys won't know what is being discussed or inferred. Could someone please point me in the direction of a Glossary of Terms or Index, so I can glean what is what, and not be left in the dark!
Iain.

Laird Sturbs can change the blue background colour in which the 'quote' button is - if you ask them nicely. I can't remember if he is able to change the icon for 'quote', 'reply' etc. No doubt he will try , if it is possible.

So it's a definite no-no on more Tog Desriptions then? Or could I ask Mr. Sturbs nicely about that, too?

How can one who casts no shadow have an image?Simply because I am not out and about much during the day, and I have an unusually shaped bed you are very quick to leap to judgement aren't you?
