Here are some pictures of the Sweet Peas what RTG gave me as seeds. Personally I fink she fooled me into believing them to be Sweet Peas cos they grow faster than Triffids! ;D I've got to repot some of em already and they only germinated at the begining of the week! Will keep you all updated.

I planted some seeds too, a few weeks ago and they grew really quickly. I hope they flower!
The other things I planted that grew quickly were beans. They are supposed to be dwarf beans, so I guess they will stop growing soon, but i am amazed how quickly they shot up!

I've repotted the sweet peas now but they've shot up some more since that picture was taken. I'm a bit unsure about whether to plant them out at the moment cos they could get hit by a frost but on the other hand they're getting so big now that my kitchen now resembles a part of the rain forest!

Toby, have you pinched the middles out of each plant yet...that will help them to bush out.
Also, I know it's a bit of a faff, but put them out each morning and bring them in each night, just to get them used to it before you take the plunge and plant them out properly.

Yep I pinched the tops off as they were growing. Ooops!! They be out in the open air already Peekie cos I was worried that they was gerrin too leggy in the pots. Will just have to keep fingers crossed that they cope with the weather now.

Tobes Have you thought of getting a small coldframe? They come in handy for hardening off the more tender stuff that needs to go outside when your windowsill gets full. We have got a couple that have come in very handy over the years.

WE bought a small, flatpack coldframe for that very reason.
One big wind and it blew away.
Doh!

I've gone through two lots. The first, from seed, which were v leggy like Toby's and the slugs got the lot the second, bought plants are very poor and no sign of flowers (those that have survived the b****** slugs of course)

Slugs hate 'walking' on them, plus the calcium that leaches from the shells is good for sweet peas. For the same reasons, egg shells are the best way of keeping slugs away from any brassicas.
