When we moved in to our new house there were many plants that the previous owner had planted that really weren't suitable for the soil. It's a very alkaline soil here, and she had put in lots of acid loving plants for some reason. Here's one of them that we pulled out and have re-potted in a pot in ericaceous compost. It started out all yellow and sickly looking. Now it's started to flower. A bit of an improvement. Goes to show the importance of getting the right soil.

Yes, one of the first things we did when we moved to our current house was to do a soil test, it doesn't take long to do and it can save you wasting money on plants that eventually give up because they're growing in the wrong conditions.
That plant looks fairly good Ivan, at least there are buds on it !
