At the side of our house we have a paddock, and we have been thinking for a while about digging out a pond. When we mentioned this to someone they suggested, that rather than have a pond, have a hot tub. Here is a picture of the paddock, and would like suggestions as to whether we should dig out a pond and where, central, left, right, near the house or away from the house. Or should we go for a hot tub?

Why not have both? I have a 5000 gallon 6ft deep pond fed by a 10ft long waterfall from a 6ft x 4ft x 2ft deep upper pond. The upper pond, essentially a vegetable filter with a variety water lilies and other plants. receives the output from the main 5 stage filtration unit (A=approx 2000 gallons per hour), The main pond, which has two 4 inch gravity fed bottom drains feeding into the main filter bays, has a 4ft X 3 ft 16 mm window so the koi carp can look out and see us relaxing in the hot tub with an acrylic glass of bubbly. I've posted a few photos on my gallery if you are interested. At the moment I am attempting to cultivate bonsai around the pond.

If you go for a hot tub dont close it in! We had one there and have one here and it is lovely to sit out under the stars nice and warm from the water watching the night envelop us.

Still considering all options. PMS, has not been well, so plans are on hold, for the time being. I think a hot tub would be great, and help his condition, but he loves fish. So the family debate continues as well.

How strange my earlier posts didn't seem to work. Then when I thought I had at last succeeded the earlier onesa decided to become visible. I are exceedingly puzzled
