First came the light, so bright it blinded all eyes that looked on it.
Then came the fire that burned all before it leaving naught but blackened ash where life had been.
Next came the wind, so fierce it scoured the land of all that stood.
Following then came a flood so swift if took with it great boulders and it cleaned the Earth.
Death looked over the land, for Death was there, nothing moved, nothing lived.
Death rested on the ground, this was a place like no other it had seen. No life to disturb it, nothing could be heard, silence reigned.
Death was content, for the first time in all it's existence it had no lives to take, no hearts to still, no stems to wither.
For many days death dwelt in this place, it grew still, it did nothing.
Then the voice came to Death.
“Oh Death why do you tarry in this place when there is much to do”
Death answered “ I tire of what I do, I am feared, I am loathed in all the lands. Here I have peace”.
The voice answered Death, saying “ Death my old friend, you must visit all life that is, even I will feel your touch. You of all are immortal, you will never end. Life needs you. All life creates new life. Without you old life would always be and new life would find no place. All the lands would become the same. Without new life, there would be no change, no new colours, no new design.
New ways and new life journeys would not be. Without you no lives would end but would become as the unpicked fruit on the vine, without life though it lives.”
The voice again spoke to Death, “ Without you life would not be life but an existence, none would thank you for that”.
“I am not thanked now,” cried Death, “I am cursed”.
“New life thanks you with it's first cry, it's first breath or the new shoots from the seed, all life thanks you at it's birth, a birth into a world where there is a place for it. At it's death it speaks not unto you but to me.”
Death thought on the words the voice had spoken.
Then Death understood and it left that place. It went out into the world.
Life continued to change and flourish. All was well again.
