Just watching River Cottage Spring - Gil just fried up lettuce, spring onions & radishes (interesting choice) but then added snails fried in garlic & butter! Apparently they lost a whole load of salad to the crawling blighters earlier in the year.

Shame I don't like snails really.

I haven't found any where we have lived in the UK, but we had a garden full, until we got ducks, of the big edible ones when we lived in Oz. And they were deeeeelicious - fed them on oats for three days before cooking them, so that they tasted sweet - tasty and well worth looking out for in any garden.
