We have 3 hedgehogs who visit every evening. Tiggy & Winkle come out just after dark. But Early Doors the Hedgehog is getting earlier and earlier each evening! Here he is just now (6.15pm) and in bright sunshine! Eating currants - the fat git! Yesterday evening the Blackbird and Robin were looking at him perplexed as they all shared the grub!

Oh Sharon how lovely! He obviously feels quite safe!
I wish we had a hedgehog.

Same here Lily - so, inspired by your post, I googled for hedgehogs adopt on the offchance and there are a fair few animal sanctuaries that are looking for adoptive homes. So I've given notice to the slugs and snails in our garden - their days are numbered!

Fi, you could try getting in touch with your local wildlife rescue centre. My cousin helps out with one and they are often looking for suitable release sites for creatures they have helped. She recently 'brought on' some baby shrews so they have all sorts of animals to release.
At one of our old houses, we had a family of 6 that used to visit every evening. Cost us a small fortune in food but it was well worth it!

Wish we had hedgehogs. We got lots of slugs. I am not having much luck finding a place to get them from near me

Thanks for the suggestion Sooz - I'll certainly try that route, but I'd also be interested in taking a few from Uist I don't know how many our garden can support, but hopefully more than one - I don't want a lonely little hog that needs a cuddle before bedtime!
Which for some reason reminds me of an event a few years ago in our previous house - I heard really loud grunting from the bottom of the garden, so I went to investigate. It was two boars fighting and it's the most civilised thing to see - since they both have spines, they don't try to bite one enother. Instead they stand side by side and grunt at one another for hours and the the loser finally wanders off for no obvious reason!
