Nuala said to the man frae Dunoon "If when at Leicester they play a tune Do you think we might dance the Tango?"
He smiled at her and said "Aye but there's another dance we could try It's called The Horizontal Fandango"
She said "Sir you're quite bold or so I have been told. Just how far do you think that you can go?"
He said "Well, 'twould be nice to go all the way twice Whilst dancing the Horizontal Fandango"
She said "Well then my dear just what does one wear?" He said "The same as when eating a Mango"
"No need to stand in the sink you'll look great in the pink dancing the Horizontal Fandango"
She clasped her hands to her chest and said "What, take off my vest? I've never done that dancing Mambo"
He said "For tea at the Vicars You can wear vest and knickers But not for the Horizontal Fandango"
They danced all that night till the dawns early light and jigged to jazz rhythms from Django
And it didn't seem rude that they danced in the nude doing the Horizontal Fandango
I've seen dance in Japan I've seen the Can Can I've seen dance in Old Pango Pango
But East or West The one that is best is Dunoon's Horizontal Fandango

Very good Paul! Did you write it as a song?

Thanks Dinah and Nu. Glad you liked it.
It wasn't written as a song but I do always try to hear a rhythm in a poem as I write it. I suppose ideally it should have a Latin, Tango type tune to be a song, but I'm not that clever.

Oh...and so modest with it. I think you're extremely clever but I'm sure you won't let it go to your head......or any other part of your anatomy.... xx

THE MEXICAN HAT DANCE
When pZ asked our Nu to Fandango, She said ‘Paul, I’d as soon do a Tango. No objection if you went commando But, a gentleman takes off his hat!’
Said pZ, who was quite a romancer ‘Well, I think that I may have the answer. You see, though I’m a competent dancer, I’d much rather keep on my hat!’
‘ We could trip the fantastic together, With no hat in this terrible weather I’d feel rather silly, The wind would be chilly And I’d catch a cold in the head. Then the ‘flu, Which I dread And tomorrow I may well be dead. So!’ he said, ‘Off to bed. Horizontal Fandango instead.’
So, they danced in the ‘noddy’ at ebb tide With their underwear strewn at the bedside And the rest of their clothes somewhere outside. On his head was the famous black hat.
The new name she called him was ‘Zorro’ And he pledged to return on the morrow With a promise that he’d try to borrow A mask, and for her, a black hat.

I hope this one is enough of a Tango for you NUALA'S HIDEAWAY
I know a dark secluded place Where Nuala goes all dressed in lace Of underwear there’s n’ere a trace Its called Nuala’s hideaway Ole
From Dunoon she meets a man She dances Tango with a fan He takes her assets in his hand In Nuala’s hideaway Ole
At Togfest or any other place you go You’ll meet your Uncle Murphs or someone that you know But if you go to the spot I recommend Don’t bother dressing up cos you’ll be naked in the end.
Just knock three times and whisper low I’m ready now, where can we go? And he will say A place I know Its called Nuala’s Hideaway Ole
He wears his kilt and does a ‘fling’ And she can see ‘most everything Her heart speeds up like anything In Nuala’s hideaway Ole
He takes her out to see the moon She’ll be back but not till noon It’s too much fun to finish soon In Nuala’s hideaway Ole
