Ok, folks, how do you fancy a bash on ‘The Bus’? Have toyed with doing a bash in this neck of the woods for a couple of years, but it seemed like hard work and real life got in the way. However, over the last 9 months and with the help of OB and Dora this is what we’ve come up with…
Tog’s Bus Bash – Twickenham to London (and back!) Date: Sunday August 16th, 10.30am - £10 a head (Tygs over 10 - £5)
Charles Nove kindly has agreed to drive and Deadly has said he’ll be our Clippie – assuming work commitments don’t call him in on his day off!.
The bus will leave Twickenham at 10.30am for a tour of London, stopping at the South Bank/Waterloo for 2 hours free time. The stop is at the London Eye, or you could do a boat trip from there to Tower Bridge (and back!), or the London Aquarium, or sit and have a drink and/or some lunch, or toddle off to shop, whatever. It’s also easy for those who need to get to a main line London station to travel home to do so from there. The bus will leave at 2/2.30pm to return to Twickenham for those who stayed over to pick up their cars/luggage. All timings will be confirmed.
There will be 3 pick up points:- Both Premier Inns mentioned below and Twickenham Station for those who come on the day. Parking meters are free on Sundays.
Tygs over 10 are welcome, numbers allowing. Also, if your best friend/neighbour is a Tog who doesn’t use the boards (as my best mate is!) then they will be welcome too.
For those who wish to make a weekend of it, we will be meeting late afternoon/early evening on the Saturday, at a pub in Twickenham. I have a couple in mind on the Green, so more details when I have an idea of numbers. Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, Windsor Castle, (even a behind the scenes tour of the Rugby Ground!) etc are all within spitting distance if you wish to visit on the Saturday.
There are the 2 Premier Inns mentioned below and you can PM/email me for a list of local B & B’s if you prefer (this has come from the University I work in, so I can’t vouch for them personally). If you want to come I would advise booking the Premier Inn now – you won't have to pay yet and can cancel a day before, but it is probably advisable to do so as it will be the middle of summer and a load of Togs arriving could struggle to find a bed if they leave it too late!
Premier Inn, East Twickenham, 6th Cross Road, Twickenham www.premierinn.com/pti/hotelInformation.do?hotelId=27274
This one is easier to get to by bus or taxi from the station. A 15 minute walk down Staines Road brings you to Twickenham Green.
Premier Inn, Chertsey Road (A316), Twickenham www.premierinn.com/pti/hotelInformation.do?hotelId=24197
This is as close to Twickenham Green as the other one, but on a dual carriageway – you would need to cross a footbridge and cut through. Directions when we know the pub we are meeting in on the Saturday.
Please let me know if you are interested. The Bus has a top limit of passengers also, so don’t leave it too late as we have to do ‘first come, first served’.– it’s a while away yet, but we want to give you as much notice as possible and need to know if you are interested at this stage, so we can tweak the details. Those who would want/need to travel and stay on the Saturday, bear in mind what I have said about booking – you can always cancel if you find you can’t make it.
If you fancy it then drop me an email on togbash@googlemail.com
Payment for the bus can be made either through Paypal or by cheque - maybe even cash if you ask her nicely!. Please contact OB for details, either by PM or email: ros_coffey@hotmail.com
We look forward to seeing you for some Toggy fun. More details nearer the time.
Love Lily xxx

I will very likely be back in the UK around that time, all being well - it's a fortnight after the due date for the impending baby or babies, so I am probably going to be up in Scotland at the beginning of August.
Depending on timing, count me in, and possibly the Hippy, too!

Wonderful idea, Lily. I have decided - we are coming. I have also decided that we shall be on the bus - Iona is worried because she suffers from travel sickness, if she feels sick, she will have to get off and run behind!! Lol.
