YOU, ME AND LOVE
D’you remember that day we walked? We set off; you took hold of my hand And the magic you brought to everyday things Turned my world into Fairytale Land.
Was it really you there with me As we strolled through the grass in the sun, Discoursing the world and all of its ‘ills’ On that day…with my life just begun.
I drank in the sound of your voice, Saying everything and more beside As the soft, soothing tones wove a carpet of peace And my turmoil began to subside.
We stood at the edge of the water, You watching the Canada geese Never noticing how I studied your face Taking note of each line, each crease.
‘What a wonderful face’ I was thinking. Was a face full of character, strong And the space where I stood was designed just for me And was where I would always belong.
The call of geese from a faraway bank The cry of a bird high above Would remind of this wonderful day that we walked Just the three of us,….you, me and Love.
