What are the rights of the above? Well, I have put my hand to trying a story. I was going to send it to Mick Sturbs but I have lost his email address so I sent it directly to wogan@bbc.co.uk The other day a story was going to aired but back word was given at the death. The story was then aired the next day (today in fact). I have a few questions. a) How do I check if my email got through (since it appears the beeb no longer has the automated reply setup). b) If it got through how do I find out if the materieal was deemed unsuitable? c) ... errr, WHY HAS MY STORY NOT MADE IT! d) Should I pose the above questions to the 'ask Lynne' spot? Me

To the best of my knowledge, Mick Sturbs is the only writer of the broadcast J&J stories.
His email is on the homepage - alternatively, you can send him a personal message on here.
a] There is no way of checking if your email got thru', as the only way you could check would to be to send another email.... and WUTW receives so many, I doubt they'd be able to reply directly.
b] You won't know... the power of print or not lies with the producer - the power of read or not lies with Terry.
c] Who knows! There are millions of listeners, and probably thousands that send stuff in - how they choose which to read out is a mystery!!
d] You could try..... but I wouldn't hold yer breath! ;D

In answer to ponts B and C : Perhaps it was just deemed crap. As STW gets 600 emails a day sent in to the show, the competition's pretty fierce. In fact it always surprises me that he ever gets to read them all.

Me Why would you want to even try and write a Janet & John story and expect it to be read out? The whole idea of J&J is that Mick Sturbs writes them, Terry reads them out and then selected stories are put on a CD and sold, the proceeds of which are donated to Children in Need. Why not try and do something original?
