I admit to being sucked in as a young girl - I adored Spock and was a bit dubious about the new film. It could have been such a disappointment.
I went with the Present Mr Fuller-Teabags to see it last night and am full of praise for the acting, the story and the attention to detail. It had excitement, passion, sympathetic characters and humour.
I absolutely loved it.

I've been restraining myself from recommending it for fear of going over the top. I saw it a couple of weeks ago, and as soon as we got in the car I said I'd love to see it again ( and yes I did understand all the complicated bits). Zachary Quinto as Spock was fanatastic , and Uhura's storyline was a bit of a surprise too
Loved the use of the original theme music as the credits went up as well.
So, in a couple of weeks time we're off to see it at the BFI's IMAX in London, and I can't wait !!
*Jumps up and down with excitement*.

We saw it on the IMAX screen at the Kennedy Space Centre and absolutely loved it, and yes, we could both have happily watched it again.
It's brilliant, Spock and Bones McCoy in particular were excellent, and the young actor (is it Chris Pine?) playing Kirk was full of Shatnerish braggadocio and swagger.
It really does stand on its own as a Star Trek film. Just brilliant!

ABSOLUTELY BLIMMIN FANTASMAGORICAL!!!!! Sorry... got a bit carried away there. But it was quite simply fantastic, and I got a hoooooge lump in my throat when the Enterprise came into full view... I concur with everyone's comments above. Bear and I saw this the other evening, (it killed me to wait until it had died down a bit!), and I have to say, it lived up to all the hype admirably. Zachary Quinto was quite simply brilliant as Spock and I got all wibbly about the bottom lip again when Leonard Nimoy appeared.
The special effects were exemplary and all of the characters were well thought out, and no one tried to 'be' like the original characters, but I do agree Tigs, Chris Pine definitely had that Shatner swagger off pat.
Bliddy Brilliant. Heartily recommend it.

Oh, good. I am so glad it wasn't just me. I did say that I wanted to go again - right after the credits.
Did I mention how blooming excellent it was?
