Martin is a folk singer and musician.
I had never heard his music before until Wednesday night when, on the Mike Harding Folk and Acoustic show, they interviewed him and played songs from his new CD, "True Stories".
One of the tracks, "One Day", was written as a tribute by Simpson, using words written by Martin Taylor, to Taylor's son Stewart, who died in 2005.
The lyrics are some of the most powerful I have ever heard, exposing fully a father's grief for the loss of his son. That said, they also offer hope towards the end.
If you think you might like it, listen to the show on the iPlayer.
The CD comes out on Monday.

I have just downloaded the song on iTunes - maybe it's me but I feel it is very powerful

For someone who is an incredibly talented musician, Martin Simpson is also a great lyricist. 'Never Any Good' from 'Prodigal Son' is a very moving song and reminds me of ... well, me, in many ways.
