As I've written elsewhere I took quite a few piccies last night and today. They can be seen at... QuizSnibstonThe camera is now behaving perfectly, and it gave me a chance to experiment a bit. Using the external flash for the quiz was fine, although I've edited the pics quite a bit - one problem I found was it exposes correctly for a foreground object, but leaves the background quite dark. Shots without anything in the foreground worked better! However a bit of cleaning up generally fixed it. The museum shots were all taken without flash, but with the camera set to ISO3200 for the indoor ones. The ones I've uploaded to the web are unedited (other than shrinking the size), and in general seem fine. The one of the Stephenson shaft I did try with the Extended Dynamic Range turned on - it didn't make a lot of difference! I was going to try HDR on this, but unfortunately I made an error when I swithced the mode on the camera so I got 5 identical pics instead of 5 different exposures. On the way back I called in at PC World. I'm now using Paint Shop Pro for the editing, which seems to work well. I've bought it mainly for trying things like HDR, so it's not made much difference yet. I also got a copy of Serif WebPlus so that I can start editing my website again. One of the features is a photo album wizard, which is what I've used to generate the pages linked above. I'd be interested in comments on how well these work. Glen

Excellent shots of Snibston.
I am glad I read your comments through as I was about to ask what you had used to generate the album. I also use Paint Shop Pro but have recently removed it as for some reason it keeps freezing. This only happened subsequent to me scanning an old postcard I bought though I am sure that this is incidental other than the fact that I fear my scanning software is corrupted.
If you have not already done it I feel it would be useful to include a link to this page on the original Quiz page.

Thanks Carl. So far PSP is behaving! The one picture I'm disappointed about is the Stephenson pit head. I haven't managed to get the effect I was after, with the sun shining through the headwheel. I think HDR might have achieved it, but it's too late now.
Glen
PS the pics are linked on the appropriate threads!
