I've just put this on the noticeboard, then wondered if it should be on here ... so being a TOG decided to put it on both....
I was a tad anxious about my Ryanair flight, after the 'exposé' last week on Panorama, but I needn't have worried - it was great!
Yes, they charge for everything - but they've only broken down the service into its component parts which means that you only pay for what you want.
We went to Marseilles for a fiver, didn't need to check any luggage in and were careful that our hand luggage was 'regulation' size and weight - they are strict on this which is great .... I'm fed up of folks being allowed to take enormous suitcases in the cabin, filling up too much space in the overhead lockers and delaying everyone into the bargain.
The plane was nice and new-looking, comfy seats and more leg room than we got on a BA flight last month.... also the seats don't recline so you don't have some idiot practically lying in your lap all the way.
Aircraft food is normally pants, so we chose to take our own packed lunch which was no problem at all.
Both flights landed early and we were out of the airport within 10 minutes of landing - a very slick operation.
The only thing I'd do differently next time (and there WILL be a next time) is to get hold of a visa electron card from somewhere so that we don't have to pay the £5 per flight card fee. This was the only thing that I couldn't avoid and it bugged me.
I'm now looking at 2p flights (yes you read it correctly ... 2p with no flight surcharges or taxes) - all I need is more holiday entitlement at work !!!
International jet-setting, Ryanair style - bring it on !!
