Phil Officer, Thanks for the advice, But how do I advertise on this site? Do I use this message Board? (BASH).
Do you have any knowledge of numbers likely to turn up if I organized a pub location in herts . Might be a problem if 200 arrive at small pub!!!
You mention Hobgoblin , you like Real ale? Are you in Herts? I'm new to all this computer stuff. (Oh Sad Old Git (SOG) husband is typing this as I don't like computers) Eiderdown

200 would be an amazing number of TOGs to get in one place (other than the TOGs convention) think more in numbers of between five to twenty. Find a pub that would support that sort of number that's easy to get to and (preferably) has good parking, if there's B&B's / travel lodge type places nearby that can be a bonus for those that might want to stay and drink. Don't forget, TOGs like their food too so hopefully your pub will do food. Once you've found this suitable place, post on here (bash board) your idea for a bash, the proposed date and location and hope it "kicks off". (be prepared to remind us about it at regular intervals up to and including the date, we are TOGs after all ) Hope this helps. Mahatt

Isn't it a bit much to suggest a newbie organises a bash? Eiderdown, there are naturally more get togethers and bashes during the summer months, so why not hang on for a while, get used to the boards and see if anything localish crops up in the spring? Although having said that, some TOGs will travel extraordinary distances for a bash! Meanwhile, Scrab used to live in St Albans, and although she moved recently, she is, I think, still in Herts. We're just up the A1 in Bedfordshire and there is someone in Dunstable, although I'm not sure if they're still an active member. Welcome aboard, sit back, relax and see how things pan out...

No, I don't think it is Whitby! It's really refreshing that a newbie is eager to meet us. As we all know organising a bash can be fraught with dissapointment OR can end up with a wonderful day (no matter how many turn up ) with fond memories. The thing is to try, ask advice (as Eider has) and see what results. ;D

Eiderdown, welcome. I am relatively new and have been made very welcome, I am sure it will be the same for you. I just started by reading the boards to get a feel of the culture and of course I already 'knew' so many from Terry's show, so nothing was a surprise. Until I actually met some of them............ (if I knew how to put a smile at the end of that I would have done it x)

I must agree...there are some very strange personages on here and it is refreshing to know. I recently had my yearly check up at the Clinic for the Bewildered....the therapist told me that I was getting worser !!.
