If you can keep your head when all about you are seeking fame That once they had but has now long gone away. If you can trust yourself to be a paragon of virtue That's 24 hours of every waking/sleeping day!
If you can bear to hold the wriggling mealyworms - and eat them and having chewed and nibbled, go on and swallow Knowing well that maybe seconds or hours later The remnants will end up in a muddy hole out in the hollow
If you can walk out in the Jungle whilst smiling still at camera 3 And meet up with Geordie imposters who smuggly wait at every tree If you'll traverse the wooden ladder that swings above a deathly drop Whilst making viewers back in Blighty, believe that it is not a prop
If you can shower whilst still wearing the mearest of designer garb And having showered forget to dress again - for fear of tabloids barb If you can speak of matters personal, hoping millions will hear each word That you will write in your lifestory - even though it is your third
If you can milk the media hype for every minute Caring not what you have done And somehow going on to win it Then..you will still be - a 'has been' my son
