I've done this for the last two years, and I cannot believe it's come round again.
This Thursday sees the 21st anniversary of my dad's passing - I can't believe it, as it now means that my dad has been dead for more than half my life.
I am not going into great detail about the events of 22nd / 23rd September 1989, save to say that I had to dash across Germany on a train that had been delayed on the East German border, finally getting to Düsseldorf Airport 3 minutes before takeoff, then being picked up from Heathrow by a former resident of these boards, getting to the Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells 3 hours before dad's passing.
As each year goes by I find myself turning more and more into my dad in so many ways - his hair thinned the same way and I mutter and swear under my breath when things aren't going right on a project. I even use some of his sayings as a matter of course, of which my favourite is 'there are very few people blessed with both modesty and good looks, but luckily I am one'.
I am sure that those who know me will agree.
In Memoriam Maurice Stephen Charles Jeffery b. 5th November 1933 d. 23rd September 2989

Nice thread Sir Blimely.
Nothing really to say except I'm thinking of YOU thinking of him.

Will be thinking of you Thursday, SBW. I'll also be thinking of another friend who lost his partner a year ago on the same day.
