Just wondered if anyone has the same problem that I have. I use the internet to look for insurance but does anyone know if there is any house insurance that you can get that actually covers insects and infestations?
You don't always save money by looking for what is classed on the money sites as 'the best price' - it doesn't follow that it is as comprehensive as first thought.
Suggestions please from anyone would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

I don't use the interweb to find my insurance although I suspect I might be able to find cheaper quotes if I did. With our buildings insurance, which isn't straightforward, I find there's a benefit to using a broker. It used to be a local chap, who was brilliant at finding us an excellent deal and was always on hand if anything arose - a claim or a query about our cover etc. The little independent firm I used was taken over by one of the big ones a couple of years ago when the owner retired and my chap went to the new bods and remains as helpful as ever. I have to use a different office to actually get the quote etc but can still pop in to chat to my chap if there's a problem.
Last year was the first time I had to use the big company's office and I received a quote substantially higher than the previous year and it had a hefty broker fee on it. I haggled them down to less than I'd expected to pay and they waived the broker fee because I'd never paid one before but warned I'd have to pay it this year. I'm busy renewing at the moment and they obviously took note last year because they have recommended finding me a new company as they feel the increase is excessive and I'm going to pay less for better cover even including the broker fee.
In my experience, if you have something a little out of the ordinary a broker can be a good thing. Why not check out the interweb to get some guestimates on premium and then see if you've got a local chap to talk to about it to see if he or she can tailor-make you a better deal? Usually a broker won't charge for a chat.
It can be difficult these days as you cannot assume that comprehensive insurance for anything is what it used to be. I remember Little Tyg (beloved of Bea Gorrah) taking out car insurance with the Post Office a few years ago because it was a much better premium and there was cashback involved. Then we discovered that they hadn't automatically insured him to drive to and from work. They had also failed to put the present Countess on the policy as a second driver despite being asked to. We rang about it and they said no problem - small increase in premium for putting on the work commute plus £25 for the change and another £25 for adding the present Countess even though it was their mistake in the first place that missed him off! We did eventually get the second £25 back but it became obvious how they could keep their premiums so low!

Thanks for this. Yes I am going to have to find someone to talke to face to face because I thought we were fully covered and that is not so and they started out in a little hotel in Folkestone!
Thanks again.

Don't you need pet insurance for insects?
