Finished mine too! I thought it was brilliant!
I don't think anyone should post any spoilers though, let everyone enjoy the book for themselves.

Er.... surely the title of this thread means we could put spoilers on here? Anyone with half a brain who doesn't want to know anything wouldn't, presumably, open a thread entitled WARNING: DOES INCLUDE SPOILERS!
Anyway, here goes - thought it was great. Some very poignant moments, particularly with the burial and the clothes etc. Not massively shocked by any of the other deaths - although the TWO in the great hall at the end was a bit of a surprise. I thought the whole Snape story was fab too. The epilogue was somewhat cheesy, but I know JKR did it to try and avoid anyone writing crummy sequels!

Er.... surely the title of this thread means we could put spoilers on here? Anyone with half a brain who doesn't want to know anything wouldn't, presumably, open a thread entitled WARNING: DOES INCLUDE SPOILERS! I agree I've finished it too now, and thoroughly enjoyed the second half. I thought the first half rather tedious. (the fact that I could put it down and do other things, then go back to it, proved this to me). But once the pace quickened, I couldn't put it down. I have to admit to having a few tears.... But I was really pleased with the Snape story and Longbottom. One thing though.... because I have seen the films.... I just kept seeing John Hurt when Ollivander was mentioned... anyone else see the film characters when watching, instead of your own imagination? I think that spoils it! Dibs xx

I have just finished.
WARNING: SPOILER ALERT...
I knew a little thing like Death wouldn't stop Harry talking to Dumbledore. I was overjoyed when I discovered JK had included him in this one. Loved the DD back story!

I said I said din't I say Snape was going to do that didn't I on the thread on the other board *looks all smug and happy*
I agree took a little while to get going but when it did phew!!. My FMIL apparently sat there talking to me and then started saying things like and her feet smell and all these silly insults and I didn't look up once!! Oops!!! And I thought the two deaths she had said came at the beginning and that was that cor blimey talk about bloodbaff!! Brilliant. Hope when it comes to the film the kids can pull it off. Ron has some big scenes to play.

Due to circumstances beyond my control(!) I finished it at 20 to 10 tonight!
Unfortunately we were going to see Phoenix last night (good adaptation we reckoned) which, with going to church this morning, wasted about a day.
However, verdict is good. I think I need to reread the last couple of chapters as I lost the plot a bit (haven't quite figured some of it out), but the epilogue was a useful way of ending things. Otherwise not too many surprises/

This was definitely the best book. Brilliantly written, the way JKR, brought threads from all the previous books together for it to all come to the final conclusion, was amazing. I was glad Dumbledore, made an appearance, and also that Snape was not what he appeared. I laughed and cried at the end, even if it was cheesy.

I thought the book it'self was much much better than the last two. better paced and I wanted to know what happens.
The end left me feeling a little let down and I would have liked to know more about what had happened in the aftermath, the wizarding world putting it'self back to normal but I did think all in all it was quite a strong book.

So glad about Snape - I never bought the idea that he was a genuine baddy, Dumbledore was always protective of him. It was really rewarding to hear his story.

For those of you who were slightly disappointed in the lack of detail in the Epilogue, JKR fills in some more detail here: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959323/B x

I've finished it too - great stuff - I agree a little slow in the middle but when it got going WOW! - very neaty pulled various strands from the previous books together to complete a complex picture.
It will be interesting in a couple of years to see how the film handles all the story lines

I finally finished the book last night. I tried rationing myself but just decided to darn well finish the thing! On the whole I thought it was a good book. Essentially for me the beginning and end were the best bits with plenty of action, twists and turns, and new insights. Frankly however, the middle 200 pages of them going to and fro in a tent achieving very little and getting crotchety with one another was boring. It was only desire to find out how the story ended that kept me going! I loved the Snape story too. I had always thought there was more to him. And the way Dumbledore turned out to be not quite as white as snow brought an interesting (if at times dragged out too long) side to things. All in all this was not my favourite HP book, mind you having said that, I thought the same thing about the last one until I reread it some time later.

I did not find the middle like that. I agree that perhaps with a certain generosity in places it was doing little more than building tension and anticipation, but I felt it did that well. It made me think that things were going in a different direction and then brought back to the line I enjoyed.

Just finished it. I really enjoyed it! To me, it tied up loose ends, exlplained the unexplained, and still finished on a happy note! The ending I feel was right. It ensured that good truimphed over evil. Shame that a couple of good characters had to end early.
