Fantastic pics, Hells... and a truly wonderful time, the jollity of which you have captured.
A brilliant way of raising more money for CiN - and a real treat to have been a part of.
Thank you

K xxx I should like to be associated with the remarks of the last speaker!! Everyone I spoke to said what a lovely time they'd had.It was great to meet a few Togs I didn't know before,as well as getting re-acquainted with some from the Voyage and the last Convention, and of course long-standing chums. A terrific total for Children In Need-----and even though everyone knows I'm a little bit biased,I think they'd agree how Terry made everyone's day!! Thanks Hellen, for everything!

What a shame Deadly couldn't go. Always good to see his smiling, happy face. And he does like his grub!

Such a shame that Deadly couldnt get there, if he had told me he couldnt get there, I could have used his ticket.................lolLuckily he told us in plenty of time and I was able to sell his ticket and therefore make more money for BBC Children in Need. Which is what it is all about. I am delighted to say, that we will be having a signed TOGs special edition Pudsey for sale in our auction, which I am sure will raise even more money for BBC Children in Need.

I wish I had known the ticket was up for sale as I would have loved to have gone this year. Where was it up for sale?

That doesn't seem very fair as there are a lot of TOGs who have given their time to being on the Calendar Crew and would have loved to have gone. Maybe the best way would have been to put all names of past and present helpers into a hat and let the names be drawn by STW.

Maybe the best way would have been to put all names of past and present helpers into a hat and let the names be drawn by STW. ..or alternatively accept that the current 'system' allows STW to meet a variety of his admirers in a relaxed and friendly setting whilst at the same time being involved in raising a great deal of money for CIN. There are times when wisdom would suggest that they who have successfully paid the piper for several years should continue to be allowed to call the tune.........

That doesn't seem very fair as there are a lot of TOGs who have given their time to being on the Calendar Crew and would have loved to have gone. Maybe the best way would have been to put all names of past and present helpers into a hat and let the names be drawn by STW. The Charity Lunches were never intended as a thank you or reward for the helpers, they were devised by Hellen, with Sir Terry's blessing, to raise money for BBC Children in Need. Nor were they a right for anyone to attend, or to believe that they had a right to attend once or more than once. They were done because Hellen persuaded Sir Terry that the TOGs missed meeting him after he decided he would not attend the TOGs Convention any more. Sir Terry had expressed a wish to meet the real TOGs, and the names that he regularly read out, and those that have contributed in all sorts of ways, including those on the TOG Voyage who gave a lot of money to BBC Children in Need. The majority of those helpers past and present have previously been to a Charity Lunch not just because they had been our helpers, but the majority of them were regular contributors as well, and you were previously invited but turned the invitation down. We did include most of the helpers we had, mainly because of their help, but it was not the only reason. Invites are sent out by Hellen personally and the choice of who attends is hers, but even then she goes out of her way to be fair on these occasions, and with the exception of the "Calendar Crew" (the nine people who form the core team of workers) who help out more than most others and are given first refusal to part with quite a lot of money to attend, I think just about everyone who has helped us out has been given the chance to attend and has done so in the past. Others, who have have helped specifically were invited to attend on BBC Children in Need night, or to the Children in Need thank you lunch, and have enjoyed those experience as well, and again Hellen has tried to be fair and include as many as possible at least once to make sure everyone felt included. If there are some people who have helped out that feel they have been unfairly treated, or missed out, then we would encourage them to email hellenbach@ntlworld.com and let her know. It would be much more honest than the behind the scenes complaints and snide remarks that go on now on these boards.
