Excellent review Slinky - it was almost like being there! Can't wait for more gig reports on this site... (anyone been to/going to any of the festivals?)

Saw Dr Feelgood at the Aylesbury Civic, Canned Heat were on the same bill, few years ago now, great concert, and they chatted to us afterwards on the cd stall, told us they were among the people who got Peter Green back and performing.
We're not worthy!

Hi Dinah thanks so much for that link Hi Sew - when is the play/musical extravaganza you're doing going to be on? Is it your directing debut?

We're not worthy! I used to see Peter Green wondering around in Richmond a few years ago. All long finger nails. Really dirty. Think he may have been liveing rough for a whille... It's so wonderfull to see him back in the fold... Without music he was just a shell... And i think the 60's really did for him.. All thoughs long night's out on the razz with Keith Moon wouldn't have helped... One of my all time favourite albums is Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac live at the BBC.. Just amaizing music.. good hard core Blues...

We're not worthy! I love it when bands take the time to mingle & actually talk to you! I came to gig-going quite late in life, unfortunately, (had a strange background, but that's another story for another board...), but my (2nd & current) hubby - The Drummist - has been playing in bands & going to gigs all his teenage & adult life (think he started about 12yrs old) & has seen many of the greats. If I can persuade him to get back on this site he could probably tell you a tale or two! I'm quite envious of some of the stuff he's seen - but at least we now get to go together & we've been to some pretty amazing gigs over the years (Reef, Muse, System of a Down, Alice Cooper, to name a few). I'm really enjoying this thread! Faye, Slinky & others, keep it up!

Love going to music gigs Dinah, when I lived in London in late 60s used to go to the Marquee, Round House and Middle Earth regularly - saw lots of big names then - and loved it. Met PMS then, he wasn't so interested so we just used to hang around the Moscow Arms in Bayswater. Now he realises what he was missing and loves music too, fortunately we have very similar tastes, and his favourites are mine too. We are lucky in that where we are based we can get to venues like Oxford or Aylesbury or Wycombe to see acts, quite easily, and tours usually take in at least one of those venues, if not more, and there's always London for the really big stuff. Son has a band, writes his own stuff, and gigs in local pubs. Brother accomplished muso with the guitar and piano - but he is stuck in a Hoagy Carmichael/Muddy Waters time warp. Me, I'm just psychadellic! (but I love Hoagy too)

He also loves Muddy Waters & other blues - talking of which: Have you heard of Seasick Steve? He's a white American (of mature years) & sounds just like an old black bluesman, but with the most amazing slide guitar. Me & the Drummist went to see him play at the London Astoria back in January & it was a brilliant gig. He got a couple of phone numbers from young, attractive girls in the audience - & I think he intended to use them!

I don't know if it's the kind of blues you like, but the album we've got (he played most of it at the gig) is called Dog House Blues & it's excellent! He also plays what he calls the 'Mississippi drum machine' - which is him bashing his boot on a wooden box - brilliant! Watch him play 'Dog House Boogie' on Jools's Hootenanny here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNoPNC3ebYQ

I love it when muso's are really up there and in your face hardcore blues... Lets hope this guy doesn't get lost in the mire... Thanks for putting me onto him Dinah

Thank for the link, Slink! It's great being able to put links on here because if someone recommends something it's so easy to forget to find it & give it a listen as you get distracted by other things, but if you've got a link you can go straight to it. Look forward to the review.
