Ooh! ooh! Excitement! Kings of Leon are on bbc2 at this very moment playing Glastonbury! Saw them at Gloucester Leisure Centre when they were just starting out on the road to rock stardom & they were great! - brings back happy memories! ;D ;D ;D was that in 2002 - thats when i first saw them... was great then and their glasto set rocked Think it was 2004 - their 1st album had done well & they hadn't yet brought out their 2nd. They were booked to do the leisure centre before they started getting really successful & we were convinced they would pull out - and delighted when they didn't! ;D

Is it me or does Coldplay's latest, Violet Hill have an essence of Pink Floyd about it?

Well it's something like there previous album.. Which sounded like The Who in part.. Or at least it did to me..
I guess they pick a bunch of albums listen to them non stop and then sit down to right their new albums. Maybe that 's why i haven't bothered to buy this new one... I listened to it on youtube first and thought tha ti could just easily to play Pink Floyd and a lot cheeper too..
Think they need to go back and listen to their first album and their first single... The freshness has been lost somewhere along the way...

Is it me or does Coldplay's latest, Violet Hill have an essence of Pink Floyd about it? I really like it. Had it a couple of weeks now & listened to it a few times. Can't say I've especially noticed the Floyd similarity, but most groups are influenced by other stuff & there are worse bands to be influenced by. Personally, I think Coldplay have grown into themselves - what they may have lost in freshness they've gained in a new maturity of sound.

Sometime's you just manage to catch the most wonderful things on T.V that you never new had even happened.. There i was board out of my tree last night.. So turn on the telly.. What do i find flicking through the channels but a concert With Nick Cave, Chrissie Hynd and some welsh bloke who's name escapes me at the moment.. It was billed as the three of them doing their songs acoustic and the way the were written. IE- On piano or guitar.. As i had only caught the last half hour i was treated to Nick doing 'In my arms'.Alone on Piano. Which was so haunting. You can forget with him that he dose actually have a really nice voice. And that when he leaves the Sinth's alone and stops mucking about with with the sound board he can be a very forceful singer. I was blown away by him and his voice.. Lots of angst. Then it was the welsh guy.. Kapari woke up and started screaming.. She's having such bad nightmares lately. so i missed most of what the guy did. But from the snippet of it that i did hear. was beautiful. Something about A ship going down with all hands.. A very welsh song.. Think i even heard some Gaelic in there too.. Then Chrissie did the Pretenders 'I go to sleep'. Just her and some other guy on guitars. All though she dose have a tendency to be a bit harsh with her audience and with other musicians. She seemed to be in a rather good mood when ever this was. Her rendition was soft and light. Almost buoyant for her. Her voice is still powerful. Even after all the problems that she had with her throat.. She's still looking very young. Her eye's seemed to light up whilst she was sing this particular song.. Good memories for her i guess. Anyway that was all i got to see.. But was so impressed.. Nick transported me back to my late teens. For about five minuets i was there again.. 16 and stupid... Gees i wish i didn't know now, what i didn't know then.

Is'nt it great to hear that stuff. We forget that it was really the 50's that changed music and life in general. Where would we be without the likes of Chubby Checker and Little Richard.. Triail blazzers of their time.. Little Richard - is he still with us?

Did anyone get to see Santana over the weekend of June 20/21/22 on the UK leg of their current tour? We saw them at the NEC, Birmingham on the 20th- - and my head is still buzzing It was 2 1/2 hours of fantastic music, and Carlos hasn't lost his touch.

Did you know that 'Carlos Santana' is'nt his full name... It's "Depjon Carlos Santana"..
You dont have to be brain of briton to workout why he left his first name of the first Demo he do you...
But for saying that.. bothered botty i missed him.. Seen him twice live. Once in Rio.. I shall never forget that... He takes performing to another leavel... Had the added bonus of Jimmy Page and John Lee on stage with him too... If i had any grandchildren it woul truely have been something to tell them..

Those that do.. Know that right now life for me is a little weird to say the least.. But Music is helping me through.. I have to choose 2 songs for the you know what and the you know who..
So am reliving some wild times... Believe me they were wild.. Denis will understand... The drummer that he is..
Anyway back to the job in hand.. I really want them to play his all time favorite song.. Chris Rea You must be Evil.. But think that it maybe a bit close to the bone.. But have been listening to "THE ROAD TO HELL" album anyway.. And to be honest i cant find a bad song on it.. His guitar always sounds so fresh and he writes from the heart.. Although there is always a touch of the silver bullet band about him... With just a smidgen of Dylan.. He obviously gets off on what he does.. It's not just to pay the bills. A skillful musician.. But a wobbly botty..
